My First Book Signing

Austen and Tea were the themes of the day.

Step One: On the morning of the book signing I realised I hadn't chosen a passage to read. I finally had to crack the book and read some of it.

One the Wednesday before the signing, we found out there was a scheduling conflict and that a youth mission briefing might be sharing tea with us. Someone in the church office took matters in hand!

As we were getting ready for the EVENT, the police came. I had hoped for a successful signing, but was not really thinking we would need crowd control! As it turned out, a purse had been stolen from one of the cleaning crew and Hillsboro's finest was come to investigate.

These are all the ladies I have to thank for making this day so wonderful. Some were willing volunteers who baked and polished and toted things from their homes, while others were drafted during the course of set up. From the left standing: Stephanie, Lisa, Cherie, Beth, Linda, Laura, Emily. 2nd row: Haily and Sue. I'm the one sitting trying to calm her nerves. (Now I know why my step father was always knuckling me between the shoulders. What lousy posture!)

For a writer, most days are about being alone to plot and develop our characters. On this particular Saturday, it was about extraordinary friends coming together to help me move in a new direction in my life.

My one wish for all of you is that you are blessed with such great friends.
